Start with the Basics

SEO copy writing is nothing like writing school writing assignments. Sure, it’s good to write in complete sentences and to spell things right. But the focus is on establishing your own voice and communicating clearly without using big words.

In fact, the fewer big words you use, the better. No one will spend very much time on your web site if you use too many big words! The words you do want to use are those profitable keywords profitable keywords that you’ve found that will optimize your page for the search engines and give your visitors a reason to stick around.

Reading and Writing on the Web

Most people on the internet scan the web pages they land on. If it doesn’t capture their interest right away or fulfill their search for information, they are gone to the next site!

Establishing your own voice on your web site gives your web site visitor a reason to come back to your site. Your mission is to establish yourself in the eyes of your web site visitor as an expert with a unique insight into a particular niche that will benefit them. What’s in it for you is to write a web page that will result in your visitor bookmarking your site and coming back…often!

This is just like in the real world where you provide great customer service so that your customers will want to come back to your place of business!

SEO Copy Writing for Your Visitors and the SE's

Once you’ve decided on your niche, your content will focus on your particular niche and the expert knowledge you bring to the table. The keywords you’ve pinpointed as most profitable will be the starting place for your content.

You need to establish a purpose, either on paper or in your head, about the web content you are about to write.

What do you want the visitor to take away from your page?

What information are you trying to communicate?

Do you want to simply inform them of something?

Do you want to offer a solution to their problem?

Do you want them to contact you?

Do you want to recommend a product?

Remember that the needs of your visitor are what seo copy writing is all about. This phrase sums it all up: “What’s In It For Me?”

That’s what they’re thinking; that’s what they want… a solution to their problem or an answer to their question. If you don’t give them what they want or need, they will go somewhere else online until they find what they’re searching for.

You’ve got to think the way they think, too, when it comes to the keywords they’re using on the search engines. Sometimes the word you think they would use is really a term that only experts and professionals would use.

If that's your target audience, great!

But,if you are targeting people who aren't experts or professionals, then you need to find a better keyword.

Finding Keywords is like Digging for Gold

I recently found a great resource that will help you find good keywords that no one else is using but have plenty of people searching for them.

The author of this report found that the keyword tools that many people are using, like Wordtracker and SEObook, aren't as accurate as many people believe them to be. He's found a way to do your own keyword research using free Google tools that will help you dominate the search results for your niche.

He calls it "Digging for Gold". Find out more about it here.

How to Write? What to Write?

A lot of people complain that they just don’t know what to write about. A little creativity and imagination is what you need and it’s as simple as putting yourself in the place of your visitor.

If you were looking into this subject, what would you want to know? Answer that question and the content will flow. Here is an example you might find helpful:
