Most people are looking for information when they go online and a digital information product like an ebook provides them with all the information they need on a single download. It saves time so that they don’t have to search all over the internet for the info they need.
1. eBooks are a low maintenance product: no shipping required so it saves money and people don’t have to wait for it to arrive in the mail. It’s downloaded instantly in most cases.
2. Leverage other people's time and resources when other people sign up to sell it as an affiliate. Everyone gets a cut of the profits and not only are you selling your ebook on your own website, you have your own sales force out there advertising your ebook on their website.

To sell ebooks, you become an affiliate of a digital products retailer. The most widely-recognized names in the information products industry include Clickbank and Commission Junction but there are many smaller companies as well.

Once you join, they will give you your personal affiliate code so that whenever someone buys an ebook through your link, you will get the commission.

You browse their catalog of digital products and promote the ones you think will fit within your niche market . If you decide you want to write your own digital product, you can become one of their publishers and other internet marketers will sign up to sell your ebook.

Ebooks are a form of viral marketing. Writers of brandable ebooks sell them to you at a low cost or give them away. Those digital products have links to affiliate programs that can be changed to your affiliate code. It’s like the best of both worlds. You have an ebook to offer on your website but you didn’t do any of the work of writing it!

It’s called “viral” because the free ones are passed along like a virus with those affiliate codes embedded within the content. When people click on those links, the originator of the ebook gets paid.
