Search Optimization: Link Building Strategy
Search optimization is all about getting your website listed at the top of the search engines so that when people are searching for a particular
keyword
, your website pops up on the search engine results page. The higher you are on the search engine index, the better your page rank. There are many variables that go into increasing your page rank. Having lots of good inbound links (backlinks) that come from “authority” sites
in your niche
is an effective way to get a better page rank. If you’re the new kid on the internet block, building an effective link building strategy is one of the most important things you need to do to build a successful website. In years past, one of the best ways to get inbound links was to do a link exchange with another site that had a higher page rank. However, search engines have de-valued this factor in their algorithms because so many people have arranged link exchanges with sites that aren’t relevant to their site's content.

One Way Link Building
One way link building from authority sites is a more effective strategy that people are using to build their page rank. It's a time-consuming process but it’s the best way to build and support your page rank other than building a quality keyword focused page. Most authority sites in your niche are not going to give you a one way link out of the goodness of their heart because it can negatively affect their own page rank to do that. Getting a one way link from an authority site is generally accomplished in 2 ways.
Social Marketing
also known as Web 2.0 is a intricate mix of social news sites, blogs and social networking and bookmarking sites that all end up linking back to your site thus increasing your page rank. The other way to get quality one way links is through
article marketing
. Not only will you get a link back from the actual article directory but people who use your articles on their sites are required to give a link back to your site within the bio section in your article. Another minor way to get good back links is from web site directories. You have the major ones like DMOZ that are free but have a great page rank and the lesser known directories that are smaller but serve your niche.
