Buzz Marketing

Buzz marketing is also known as social marketing and it's a growing technology that internet marketers are using to achieve online success.

It includes such things as blogs, RSS feeds, comunity sites, social news sites and Web 2.0. I know it sounds very technical but it's a very important part of your internet marketing strategy.

This is a new area of website promotion and it's still growing. This free ebook on social media marketing will really help you understand it a little better and help you to get started fast.

Article Marketing

Getting links on other websites is by far the most effective way to get more traffic to your website. Writing ezine articles is a technique that is used by many internet marketers where you write an article about a topic within your niche and allow people to use it on their websites and in their newsletters in exchange for listing your name and website on their website.

Most article directories have terms and conditions which require people who use these articles to include the author’s name and bio information at the end of the article.

It amounts to a free advertisement for your site because if the article is good and piques the reader’s interest, they will likely click on your link for more information.

Posting on Forums

This is a form of buzz marketing. Reading and posting on forums is a great way to increase website traffic. First, find a good forum that’s friendly to newcomers and then add quality responses to postings on there.

Most forums have a profile page that you can personalize with links to your website. Or you can make a "sig file" (signature file) that includes your website’s url. If you pique people’s interest with your reply or submission to the forum, they’ll click on your link. This kind of link keeps on giving because it’s there for many people to see long after you’ve forgotten about it.

Tips: Don’t just post on forums for the sake of posting. Add value to the forum and people will likely click to your site. Post a reply that doesn’t add value and people will ignore you.

To find forums in your niche, simply type your niche + forums in the search engine box.

Increase website traffic with Directories

Directories are simply websites that are categorized according to their niche. Using this tenchnique to increase website traffic works because search engines highly value these links so it would enhance your page rank to get in one of the major directories.

The Open Directory Project (DMOZ) is one of the most highly regarded by the major search engines because it’s the largest directory on the web that’s compiled by humans.

However, most of the entries on DMOZ are non-commercial in nature so you have to be very careful to have much more content that commercialization on your site in order to get listed.

Don’t forget about the smaller directories for specific niches. For instance, I found a great directory for my organic site that lists “Environmentally Friendly Businesses”.

Submitting your website to directories will definitely increase wesite traffic but it's a time-consuming process so set aside a little bit of time every day for this task. Or find a student who you can pay by the hour to do this for you. Here's a great resource of directories that tells you what page rank each site has, if it’s paid or free and other pertinent information.
