How to Get Started

When writing ezine articles, decide what your goal is for the article and what you want to promote.

Do you want people to visit your website?

Do you want them to take advantage of a special offer?

Do you want them to visit a new page on your site that you want to get indexed on the search engines?

Do you want to get people on board a new multi-level-marketing business pre-launch?

These are just some ways you can use articles to increase website traffic and sales.

Getting Your Article to Work For You

Decide where you want to direct your readers. It could be your website url or a blog or a landing page to get their contact info. It’s up to you; whatever would be most productive in achieving your goal.

Figure out what form your article will take before writing it. Will it be a “how-to” article? An informational article? A call to action?

If you're desperate for ideas, check out the articles that are already on the directories to see what other people have written. Don’t plagiarize them, just look and see what people are interested in and how other people have approached the topic. Search your keywords to see what comes up and write unique content that other webmaster's will want to use in their ezine .

Make your article short and sweet. Try to keep it between 250 to 400 words. People who are looking for articles to publish in their ezines want them to be short.

When you write your article, make sure you give them a reason to click on the link in your bio to your website or offer. Give them just enough information to whet their appetite for more. I call it a “tease”.

You can repurpose articles you've written for your website but remember to rewrite it and omit some key points so that readers will click your bio link for more information.

Duplicate Content

The problem is that one of those pages won’t get indexed by the search engines. And you don’t want your page to be the one that's omitted! But it's easy to solve this problem if you're the one using someone else's article on your site. You just write some introductory text and possible summary text in your own words.

If someone else is using your article, you won't have that much control over how it's placed on someone else's website. But everyone who uses these articles agree to the terms and conditions of the article directory so at the very least, your name and link will be at the bottom of the article.
